How long does a house wash take?

Most house washes are done in a few hours. Bigger homes or heavy growth can take longer. We'll tell you when we send your estimate.

Do I need to be home?

No. We just need access to an outside water spigot. We'll text you when we're done.

The Method

What Is Soft Washing?

Soft washing is a way to clean the outside of a house using low water pressure and a cleaning solution instead of a powerful blast of water. The solution breaks down and kills the algae, mold, and mildew growing on your siding. Then everything gets rinsed off gently.

It's the method most siding manufacturers and exterior cleaning pros recommend for homes, because high pressure can do real damage to siding.

Why Low Pressure

Why Not Just Pressure Wash the House?

High-pressure water is great on concrete. On a house, it can cause problems:

It can crack or loosen vinyl siding.
It can force water behind the siding, where it can cause moisture problems you won't see right away.
It can strip paint and damage wood trim.
It only blasts off the green on the surface. The roots of the algae stay behind, so it grows back faster.

Soft washing cleans the siding and treats the growth itself, which is why the results last longer.

Why Siding Turns Green in Massachusetts

If you've noticed green on the north side of your house, you're not alone. That's algae. It grows best in spots that stay shady and damp, which is common in Central Massachusetts, with our humid summers and lots of trees. Spring pollen sticks to siding too and gives the algae more to feed on.
